Our Vision
We Are Dedicated To Shaping Young Women Athletes Into Confident, Healthy, And Successful Leaders.
With more than 50 years of learning under Title IX, we are reminded of the continued need for diverse and equitable opportunity for all people. It is proven that youth athletics cements the foundation of character, leadership, and perseverance, values that mold young people into leaders for tomorrow.
the mission
To provide transformative sports leadership programs
To foster physical health and mental wellness
To build an inclusive athletic community
To provide a safe, family-friendly environment
To honor the legacy of women’s sports
We're here to enhance girls' lives through the experience of sports. We have state of the art facilities and training for athletics. We may develop some All-American athletes, but our real goal is to produce generations of All-American citizens. Sports can do that. Marvella will do that.
Glenn Tilley • Marvella CEO/Founder
The Marvella Foundation is dedicated to providing opportunities to play and learn at Marvella - The Girls Sports Leadership Experience. The Foundation is committed to enriching the local and regional communities of Newton County and Jasper County, as well as the entire Northwest Indiana region. The Foundation will support scholarships for low income, disadvantaged children and families from single parent households through a scholarship program called Nancy's Dream. The Foundation also manages the Women in Sports tribute museum and Hall of Fame as well as the Success Center - providing educational programming in the areas of leadership and character development, mental health and wellness, fitness and nutrition. The Foundation will host a leadership speaker series throughout the year and will lead sports science research efforts to promote healthy development of female athletes. The Chair of the Marvella Foundation, Allison Barber, Ph.D., is herself a native of the region. As a young girl with a passion for basketball, she had no organized teams available to her until she reached college. Dr. Barber is a fierce advocate for opportunity in girls and women's sports, and she will ensure that the Marvella Foundation provides inclusive access and opportunity for all to be inspired through participation in a full mind, body, and soul experience.
